A bookmark three quarters through, no one’s had much to say All of the pages that have been torn out only get in the way Pick an eye, stick it out and keep reading Wishing you were blind to how this one ends The last line reads “Keep on keeping on.” Well, that sounds about as vague as love does now About as good as sex did then Hide the blueprints for the end You found a misery to identify with It peeks out the top pocket of your coat A smokescreen from your overflowing ashtray Hides the typos in your suicide note Thanking all of the people that wronged you Condemning those that really tried their best Ashamed that you can convey all of this Well, it sounds about as familiar as they come About as sad as that greyscale sky That said that anything could happen But then missed the chance to try Now the colour of the mountains looks so nice But I’m scared of the message that it sends Hide the blueprints for the end.

There’s a room that’s blood red It locks from the outside instead I can’t sit still when I’m in it When I know adjacent from it That there’s a life built for two That’s always under review Where the cameras are pointed Keeps days and nights disjointed Trapped in a Sertraline dream Too dullened to know what this means Can’t process your smiles or screams There’s a tree that turned black Before it gave up and cracked If we should survive winter Let’s pull out all the splinters And place them side by side They won’t stretch as far or wide As we’d hoped or needed them to Four more seasons spent with you Missing blissful ignorance Where nothing had to make sense But the future promises distance Oh, to be past tense We’re slowly becoming something different Something far less well-formed Something less prone to breathing Something yet to be born Blank space for my next of kin.

Tell me, what’s your favourite flaw You’ve found from living life so raw? Please only speak in absolutes Alright, I’ll go first I’ve accepted that all good things die staring at your artificial sunrise Its imprint keeps me up at night I sketch it but it doesn’t look like quite right Go back to holding both hands out Wait for that same predictable drought I’ll meet you not quite halfway We’ll hash out new ways to not quite say the same things In different tones In worn out shades Keep me young Keep yourself safe This will keep on going Hell mend me.

about

Thanks a lot to everyone that got in on the 7" pre-order or downloaded the EP during the pre-order period for raising £275 for Scottish Women's Aid, who do a lot of great and important work for women, children and young people in Scotland experiencing domestic abuse (womensaid.scot).

Fraser - all of the things apart from the vinyl mastering.

The EP will be mastered for vinyl and pressed to lathe cut 7" by Matt Martin at Pressure Mastering: pressuremastering.com

Cover art "designed" by Fraser using an app for kids. Vinyl back cover and labels will be designed by Scott Brassneck using software for adults.
